Daniele earned his bachelor and master degrees in Control Engineering with highest honors from Sapienza University of Rome in 2007 and 2009, respectively, and a PhD from INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France, in 2013. He has been a postdoc at IIT and led the Dynamic Interaction Control lab, focusing on iCub humanoid robots. Daniele pioneered "Aerial Humanoid Robotics" and has been a PI in several joint labs and European projects.

His awards include the "Excellence Path Award" from Sapienza in 2009, "Innovator of the Year Under 35 Europe" by MIT Technology Review in 2019, and he was selected to represent Italy at GPAI in 2020.
